About Me

Hello, my name is Ariel. I was born in December 1989 in Fort Collins, Colorado. I was raised in Loveland, Colorado with my mom and two brothers. When I was 10 years old, she remarried, we gained a sister and became a family of 6. Together we moved to east Denver. Talk about culture shock! However, it was a fun and exciting time making new friends and being able to speak Spanish with more people than just my family.

As I grew, I had an obsession for babies. I knew I wanted to work in the medical field and help moms and pediatrics. I decided I wanted to be a medical assistant. My first job as a MA in 2011 was in a family practice who also provided OB support. I got the best of both worlds. A year later I had my son in April 2012. After having him I knew I wanted to continue working with women and babies. My last job was in an OB/GYN clinic. There I learned about doulas! I did my research on what a doula could do, the training it took, the care they provided and thought how amazing it would be to switch careers. I completed 2 different training courses through CAPPA and DONA in 2020 right before COVID started. Slowly I started taking clients. Overnight support is a breeze (sometimes). When I took on my first birth client in December 2020, I was on a different level! Supporting a single mom, birthing twins vaginally is an experience I’ll never forget! Being a doula and helping women birth their own way is an

empowering career. I know I made the right choice. I retired as an MA in June 2021 and took on my own business, Doula Need a Hand. Recently, I completed Allo Doula Academy’s 200hr Certified

Professional Doula Training Cohort and got certified in 2022.

When I am not with a client, I enjoy watching cheesy Netflix movies, puzzles, trying new Pinterest or TikTok recipes, pedicures, or simply being a kid with my son. He keeps my inner child alive. Together we like jumping, wrestling, “lovey dovey time”, or him teaching me how to throw a football.
